The Wichita Thunder has acquired the rights to veteran defenseman Jason Tessier, a four-time Central Hockey League all-star.
The Thunder, one of the league's youngest teams, gave future considerations to Amarillo for Tessier.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Tessier has been a CHL all-star the past two seasons. In 2006-07, he had 24 points and was plus-1 in 33 games for Memphis. Last year, he scored 44 points and was -20 in 60 games for Austin (29-33-2).
"He's obviously a very good offensive defenseman, and he gives us a little more experience," Thunder general manager Joel Lomurno said.
Coach Brent Bilodeau was traveling to the team's exhibition games in Arizona and could not be reached for comment.
