Wichita, KS (January 23rd) - The Wichita Thunder will be out in the community all this week reading to schools and will finally have a chance to brighten up a child’s day tomorrow afternoon when they deliver teddy bears to local hospitals.
Before Christmas, the Wichita Thunder collected more than 1,400 teddy bears and have presented many of them to local charities. The players will be visiting the pediatric unit at Wesley Medical Center on 550 N. Hillside this Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in hopes of putting a smile on a young girl or boy’s face. This is an annual event that most of the players really enjoy being a part of.
“We strive to be a big part of this community and have always enjoyed dropping off teddy bears to the children at the local hospitals,” commented Thunder GM Joel T. Lomurno. “The team had a busy schedule around Christmas. They were out of town for two weeks around the first of the year and with them in town and off until Saturday, the players have a chance to get out into the community and give back to the people that support the team.”
Wichita returns home for the next three games and will host the Denver Cutthroats for the first time ever on Saturday, January 26th. For tickets, call 755-SEAT, visit the INTRUST Bank Arena box office or online at www.selectaseat.com.
