WICHITA, KS– Today the Wichita Thunder announced the re-signing of forwards Chris Greene, Robin Richards and Dustin Donaghy, as well as the additions of Justin Sawyer and Brady Leavold.

A hard-hitting forward out of Massena, New York, Greene returns to the Thunder for a fourth season. After playing with the Thunder for two seasons in 2007-08 and 2008-09, Greene spent the 2009-10 season with the SPHL’s Mississippi Surge, where he notched 51 points in 56 games. Greene returned to the Thunder last season, picking up 24 points and appearing in all 66 games.

A seventh-year pro out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Robin Richards returns to the Thunder for a second season. Richards turned pro in 2005, and has also spent time with the CHL’s Odessa Jackalopes, Tulsa Oilers and Laredo Bucks. Last season Richards notched 11 points and ranked fifth in the CHL with 199 penalty minutes.

A second-year pro, Dustin Donaghy also returns to the Thunder for a second season, after being acquired from the Allen Americans in January. Donaghy made a huge impact for the Thunder as a rookie, notching 10 goals and 18 points in 33 games, including his first career hat trick on January 23 versus Laredo.

A 6-6, 240-pound defenseman, Justin Sawyer is also entering his seventh pro season.  An imposing presence on the ice, Sawyer has recorded over 200 penalty minutes four times in his pro career.  In 2007-08 while with the Oklahoma City Blazers, Sawyer finished second in the CHL with 303 minutes. Sawyer played for the CHL’s Odessa Jackalopes last season.

A newcomer to the CHL, Brady Leavold is entering his fourth pro season. Prior to turning pro, Leavold played five seasons in the WHL, including a 69-point season with the Kelowna Rockets in 2007-08.  Leavold then played parts of three pro seasons with the ECHL’s Victoria Salmon Kings, as well as four games with the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals.
