Tessier Wins Performance of the Week

WICHITA, KS- Thunder defenseman Jason Tessier's hat trick against Tulsa on December 26th has been voted the CHL's Performance of the Week for December 22nd-28th.Tessier collected two power play goals in the second period, leading Wichita to a 6-3 win over the Oilers at the BOK Center.  Leading 5-3 late in the third, Tessier shot from behind his own blue line into an empty net to finish off the first hat trick of his career.The veteran has six goals and 11 assists in 31 games played this season.  Tessier has eight points and is +2 in his last six games, in which the Thunder has gone 4-2-0.Tessier is the second Thunder player to win Performance of the Week.  Goaltender Tim Boron received the honor for December 15th-21st for his 51-save win over Mississippi on December 19th.The Thunder is back in action tonight, finishing a five-game homestand against the defending champion Arizona Sundogs.  Opening faceoff is scheduled ... The Wichita Thunder took four points last week, winning two of three games at the Kansas Coliseum.  Wichita defeated the Tulsa Oilers 5-2 on Wednesday night, marking the third consecutive game that the Thunder scored five-plus goals.  Three different players had multiple points.  Brad Thompson scored twice and added an assist, Jason Duda scored a goal and three assists, and Joel Hanson picked up a goal and an assist.  Wichita held Tulsa to 18 shots on goal, the fewest shots ... Trade completed; Byrnes dealt

The Thunder has lost centerman Matt Byrnes in the completion of the trade for defenseman Jason Tessier.The Thunder acquired Tessier from Amarillo for future considerations in the preseason. Amarillo traded those futures to Texas. As part of the agreement, the Thunder was allowed to protect an undisclosed number of players on the active roster. WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder defeated the Colorado Eagles 7-2 at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday night.Troy Ofukany scored Wichita's fourth hat trick of the year, and finished the night +4 with five points to lead the offense.Wichita fell behind the Eagles for a second straight night when Erik Adams scored a power play goal on a rebound at 10:23 in the first period.  Jason Duda tied it at 13:44, also off of a rebound.Ofukany scored the first of his three goals at 3:00 in the second, ...
