In participation with local schools, the Wichita Thunder have initiated their very first reading program titled...Wichita Thunder Reading...Give it a Shot!!!
Students can earn free tickets to Wichita Thunder Hockey games, a free kid's meal to Chili's, and many other cool prizes thanks to our new Reading Program.
Participating schools can pass out a bookmark to each of their students to use for an entire month. The student will keep track of the books they read on the front of the bookmark. Once the child reads 4 books, the bookmark needs to be signed by their teacher and it is then valid for a free hockey ticket to the game listed on the front of the bookmark. There will be 3 bookmarks through the year so this program will be able to be completed 3 times. Posters will be given to each teacher that participates in the program to be able to keep track of each student's goal and their progress. If everyone in the teachers class completes their goal, they can then qualify to have a group of Wichita Thunder Players to come out to their school and read to the students.
