Second-Year Forward Rodewald Joins Thunder Roster

Wichita, KS (Sept. 13th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of forward Jack Rodewald to the roster for the 2016-17 season. "Jack possesses great speed, reach and a nose for the net for a big player," commented Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "I coached him for a few years when I was in Regina, so I know his character and we both felt this was a good fit. He was on an AHL deal last season with the Marlies and should continue to develop. I'm excited to see what he does in rookie camp this week with the Senators."

Rodewald, 22, begins his second full season as a pro after playing last year for the Orlando Solar Bears. In 62 games, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native recorded 47 points (18g, 29a) and also appeared in seven games for the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Rodewald will join Blake Tatchell at Ottawa Senators rookie camp, which begins this week.

"I'm very excited to join the Thunder this year and get the opportunity to work with Malcolm again," said Rodewald. "His ability to create a winning hockey team, get players to the next level speak for itself and can't wait to get started."

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward played under Coach Cameron when he was a member of the WHL's Regina Pats in 2011-12 and 2012-13. His best season in the junior ranks came in 2014-15 when he piled up 85 points (35g, 50a) in 71 games. He finished with 166 points (76g, 90a) in 255 career games in the WHL.

Rodewald will attend his third NHL camp in the last three seasons. He attended the Buffalo Sabres camp two years ago and was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs camp this past season.

He becomes the 17th player added to the preseason roster, joining Louick Marcotte, Mitch Holmberg, Ian Lowe, Alexis Loiseau, Gerrad Grant, Landon Oslanski, Dalton Reum, Vincent Arseneau, Drew Owsley, James Melindy, Matt DeBlouw, Blake Tatchell, Greg Amlong, Ryan Tesink, Alexis Vanier and Brad Cuzner.

The Thunder kicks off their 25th Anniversary season on Saturday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers. Season tickets are on sale now. Place a $25 deposit for up to four seats and pay it off in 14 payments. Contact a Thunder representative at the office today.
