Thunder Acquires Todd From Orlando

Wichita, KS (Nov. 5th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced two transactions today.

The team has acquired defenseman Zach Todd from the Orlando Solar Bears for future considerations. Defenseman Kevin Patterson has been placed on team suspension to pursue an opportunity with the SPHL's Peoria Rivermen.

Todd, 25, is in his first full season as a pro after getting a small taste last spring with the Atlanta Gladiators. A native of Holden, Massachusetts, the 5-foot-10, 181-pound blueliner signed with Tulsa in the offseason. He was dealt to Orlando before the start of the year and has appeared in three games for the Solar Bears, registering two points (1g, 1a).

Prior to turning pro, Todd played a four-year career at Mercyhurst University where he collected 53 points (10g, 43a) in 104 games During his senior year, he had a career-high 26 points (3g, 23a) in 37 games.

Wichita remains at home on Wednesday morning for a Kids Day game against Utah at 10:30 a.m. The Education Kids Day Game is presented by Butler Community College and Golden Plains Credit Union. For the first time in 15 years, local area schools will make a field trip to see the Thunder play and learn how the game of hockey relates to math and science.
